Infinite Love for Dogs – Heredity for the Rex Foundation
In Hungary, too, more and more people are choosing to support an important cause or NGO by inheritance. However, even so many elderlies, lonely keepers do not anticipate what an uncertain future awaits their pet in the event of their deaths. That's what the Rex Foundation wants to help you with. All this can be avoided by using your will to make sure that you can embrace your pet. In addition to your pet, this will save the lives of many animals and cost you nothing! We promise to spend every forint on improving the fate of animals!
Rex Perpetual Guardian Angel Program
The Rex Perpetual Guardian Angel program is a free service to ensure that your pets are professionally cared for even if you are no longer able to do so. What happens to your pet when you come to the Rex Foundation? They are examined by our veterinarians and then cared for by qualified colleagues. We will try to find a new owner for them as soon as possible, which best suits their needs. Remember, we never put a healthy animal to bed, even in old age! If we must, we'll take care of them for the rest of their lives. Our pets do their best to live the most pleasant life possible.
Why do we need your help?
Our pets bring us a lot of pleasure. They love us unconditionally and therefore ask for nothing. If everyone was as nice as dogs, there wouldn't be a need for a Rex Dog Home. Every year, 600-700 animals still need us. Our staff work tirelessly to save, care for and host these beautiful creatures. The veterinary costs, the rehabilitation and socialization of animals are very financially burdensome for our Foundation. And we have not even talked about the food and everyday care of hundreds of animals worthy of a better fate. The Rex Foundation doesn't get government funding, only our generous donors allow us to do our sacrificial, never-ending work. By mentioning the Rex Dog Home Foundation in your will, you can make sure that we will always be there to help dogs in distress – wherever and whenever they are.
What happens if I can't take care of my pet anymore?
Register for our Perpetual Guardian Angel program. We undertake to fully care for the animal during possible hospitalization or a long illness, and to keep in touch with the owner regarding the animal's well-being. Within the framework of the program, it is possible to place your pet at our Foundation in a dedicated area. We also take out special animal insurance for all our new residents.
How do you apply for the Perpetual Guardian Angel program?
Call 1/243-4080, email marketing@rex.hu or come to our animal protection office, Animal Island (1048, Budapest, Ocean Trencher st. 33)." Membership comes with a Perpetual Guardian Angel PASS. (This can help you place your dog or kitten in case something happens to you that makes you no longer able to take care of your pet.) If you decide to bet on our Foundation in your will, we recommend that you insert this sentence to avoid any confusions: "I would like the animals in my possession to be taken care of by the Rex Dog Home Foundation after my death and/or to find a new owner for them." With this, you will not only secure the future of your own pet, but also help countless more animals.

Iró, 2009-ben az Állatszigeten járva határozta el, hogy terveink megvalósításához nagyvonalú mecénásként csatlakozik. A távolabbi jövőre gondolva pár hét múlva ismét látogatást tett nálunk, és úgy döntött, hogy hagyatékával gondoskodik védenceink jövőjéről és álmaink megvalósulásáról. Mindannyiunkat elkápráztatott az az egyszerű és tiszta megközelítés, amellyel a nemes ügy felkarolását és az állatok szolgálatát kezelte. Korábban sosem találkoztunk olyan emberrel, akitől olyan sok szeretetet, bölcsességet és feltétlen bizalmat kaptunk, mint Tőle. Hálából alapítványunk vezetői és munkatársai heti gyakorisággal látogatták Őt, és haláláig gondoskodtak róla az együtt töltött évtized során.
Emlékét megőrizve a róla elnevezett „Csizmadia tanyázóban” emlékszobát rendeztünk be az Állatszigeten, ahol személyes tárgyait, fiatalon elhunyt költő leánya és az írónő gazdag írói munkásságát is bemutatjuk a látogatóknak.
Heltay László
A magyar származású karnagy, karmester és számtalan kórus megalapítója 1956-ban menekült külföldre, és karmesteri pálcájával bejárta a világot, Új-Zélandtól Argentínáig. Gazdag élete során a zene mellett fő érdeklődését a könyvek, a foci, a tenisz, a sakk és a kutyák jelentették.
Nyugdíjasként 2010-ben hazaért Magyarországra és közel egy évtizeden át követte és haláláig támogatta a Rex Alapítvány munkáját. Az évtizedes kapcsolat mély barátsággá érett, kedvenc kutyáját Charlie-t alapítványunk munkatársa fogadta örökbe. A Felelős Állattartás Háza szerkezetkész kivitelezéséhez szükséges anyagi bázist alapvetően Laci bácsi hagyatéka biztosítja, így az oktatási intézményben állandó kiállítást szentelünk emlékének.
2018-ban „Kutyák és karmesterek” címmel megjelent visszaemlékezésén finom humorral, a zene és a kutyák iránti mélyelkötelezettséggel eleveníti fel kalandos élete számos magával ragadó epizódját. A könyv alapítványunktól megrendelhető.

„Nincs senkim, halálom után én úgy szeretném ha minden az állatoké lenne.
Mindig is állatbarát voltam. Egy újságban olvastam a Rex Alapítványról, amikor nyitottak. Akkor még nagyon újak voltak. Elmentünk az Állatszigetre, és nagyon megtetszett. Édesanyám akkor még élt, és vele is megbeszéltem, hogy ha úgy adódik akkor ők lesznek az örököseink.
Hogy mi lenne a cél, aminek a legjobban örülnék, ha megvalósulna a támogatásunk révén? Az ivartalanítás és olyan gazdák megsegítése, akik anyagilag nem állnak olyan jól. Elengedhetetlen a cicák és kutyák ivartalanítása, hogy ne legyen ennyi kóbor állat, mert rájuk csak csak szenvedés vár. Az elmúlt években a Rex Alapítvány a családommá vált, akik gondoskodnak rólam és a cicámról egyaránt, és tudom, hogy a hagyatékom is jó kezekbe kerül.
Az életemben az embereket szolgáltam, halálom után az állatokat szeretném. Ez az én mottóm.”
